Marcus T. Brown
Marcus represents and advises clients in real estate and business matters and related litigation. His practice covers Oregon, California, and Washington. Marcus is an experienced litigator, having handled hundreds of cases in state and federal court, and is also a skilled transactional lawyer, with a focus on real estate transactions such as purchase-sale, financing and leasing of commercial properties. Outside of real estate, he has assisted business clients with a variety of transactional services and served as their outside general counsel. Marcus's clients have included national banks, mortgage loan servicers, private lenders, commercial landlords, colleges, contractors, restaurant franchises, real estate brokers, property managers, building materials suppliers, and real estate investors, among other organizations and individuals.
Marcus has taught continuing legal education (CLE) courses to other attorneys on subjects including real estate financing, real estate title insurance, debt collection, and real estate litigation. He has also been a contributor to attorney practice guides related to real estate litigation, among other legal publications. Marcus is rated AV Preeminent, the highest peer-review rating given by Martindale-Hubbell.
Marcus is a Lane County native, having grown up in Junction City, the fourth generation of his family to live in the Willamette Valley. He practiced law in Seattle and the San Francisco Bay area for 15 years before finally coming home. In addition to his career, he enjoys writing and performing country/Americana music, staying active in the outdoors, and raising his three kids.
